A sunny and warm weekend is expected. Ideal for an outdoor trip, to discover the untouched nature of Molise.
Very close to Campobasso, less than 30 minutes by car, there is the Matese, one of the most important mountain groups of the southern Apennines, which marks the watershed between Molise and Campania, with peaks that reach 2000 meters above sea level.
On the eastern side of the Matese you will find the WWF oasis Guardiaregia-Campochiaro, which extends over 3000 hectares.
You will not only find plains and woods, as well as a very rich flora and fauna, but also spectacular karst phenomena: waterfalls, gorges and canyons that figure among the deepest in Europe.
A landscape that is suggestive in every season but that we recommend to visit especially in spring: wildflower meadows in full bloom and waterfalls full of water.
The WWF oasis offers different types of paths and trails. More information on the WWF oasis Guardiaregia-Campochiaro website.
