A new nature reserve is born in Molise: the naturalistic oasis of Casacalenda (Campobasso) becomes a regional nature reserve called ‘Bosco Casale’.
It’s official. The naturalistic oasis of Casacalenda (Campobasso), the oldest protected area in Molise, becomes the ‘Bosco Casale’ regional nature reserve. The coveted recognition comes precisely in the twenty-five year anniversary of its institution, rewarding the work done by the LIPU (Italian League for Bird Protection) in collaboration with the municipality of Casacalenda.
A wonderful hilly forest, which extends for almost 150 hectares halfway between the Adriatic coast and the Matese mountains. A precious treasure chest of biodiversity, which preserves more than 130 species of birds, 80 species of butterflies and many species of flowers. A nature trail of about 2 kilometers allows the visit at any time of the year.
