It is a unique carnival in Molise: a cheerful parade of real giant works of art handmade by skilled craftsmen who work the papier-mâché.
They are called ‘papier-mâché giants‘ and it is not an euphemism: the papier-mâché characters who animate the carnival of Larino, in the province of Campobasso, can even reach 6 meters in height.
They are made with care and skill by the craftsmen who work the papier-mâché in an excellent way.
Every year there are new masks, which also draw from current events or are inspired by famous people at local, national and international level.
The Carnival of Larino, recognized by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities as one of the 27 Historical Carnivals of Italy, celebrates its 45th edition this year.
The appointment is for 22 and 23 February and for 29 February and 1 March 2020. Do not miss!
