For the most skeptical and ironic, Molise really exists and it is worth visiting. That’s what New York Times says.
Molise is mentioned by the New York Times, which puts it on the list of places to visit in 2020 (52 places to go in 2020).
The long list opens with Washington, passing through famous capitals such as Tokyo or Paris or the boundless natural parks of China, to end with Glacier National Park in Montana (United States).
Molise is 37th on the list, well placed between Lima and Copenhagen. The other recommended Italian destinations are, in addition to Molise, Sicily (seventh place) and Urbino (penultimate).
With an extraordinary summary, the main attractions of the region are traced. It starts from the archaeological remains (the reference is to the Roman city of Saepinum), passing through the naturalistic beauties (here the reference is to the Matese mountains) up to the coast, with the beautiful old town of Termoli.
The article ends with a brief foray into tradition, with the ‘Ndocciata in Agnone and the Trans-Siberian railway, the extraordinary journey on historic wagons that connects Molise and Abruzzo through landscapes of indescribable beauty.
The territory also preserves the traces of the ancient ways of transhumance, declared in 2019 an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
In short, it is an extraordinary invitation to discover Molise, “one of the most spectacular parts of the country”, unknown to the Italians themselves (who don’t know what they are missing…).
