Museums, archaeological areas, castles, churches, theaters: everything deserves a visit to discover the history and the ancient culture of this land. Molise boasts a varied cultural offer.
Events not to be missed are, for example: sophisticated music and film festivals internationally known, such as the Eddie Lang Jazz Festival of Monteroduni (Isernia), the Zampogna Festival of Scapoli (Isernia), the Macchia Blues of Macchia d’Isernia (Isernia) and Molise Cinema in Casacalenda (Campobasso); the naturalistic and cultural paths, such as the “Cammina Molise” and the transhumance; festivals and celebrations of all kinds, especially during summer; the numerous traditions of folk and religious character, such as the ‘Ndocciata’ of Agnone (Isernia), the Good Friday procession of Campobasso and Isernia, the maritime procession of San Basso in Termoli or the parade of the ‘Mysteries’ of Campobasso.
Molise also boasts a typical handicraft of undoubted artistic value. The metalwork is outstanding: wrought iron, perforated steel, worked and embossed copper and, above all, the monumental bells made by the Marinelli Pontifical Foundry of Agnone (Isernia). Traditional and valuable are also the arts of weaving, of bobbin lace and of musical instruments.
Molise has also been a crossroads of different peoples and cultures that have left traces in the language and traditions of some villages of the lower Molise, in the province of Campobasso: there are ethnic and linguistic Croatian and Albanian minorities.
