Achille Pace, Vincenzo Mascia, Gino Marotta, Carmine Cecola: extraordinary artists from Molise which are in the eclectic collection of the MAGI ‘900 – Museum of artistic and historical excellences Giulio Bargellini of Pieve di Cento, in the province of Bologna. A pleasant and unexpected discovery.
MAGI ‘900 – Museum of artistic and historical excellence Giulio Bargellini: a jewel in Pieve di Cento, a small village in the province of Bologna. An extraordinary reality that you do not expect, comparable to the great museum institutions of Europe. A museum that collects thousands of extraordinary works, an expression of the art – especially Italian – of the twentieth and twenty-first century, created by Giulio Bargellini, an art-loving entrepreneur of Pieve di Cento.
An eclectic, lively, dynamic museum, open to international languages and contemporary expressions.
Among the thousands of works masterfully displayed on over 9000 square meters, there are some masterpieces of three extraordinary artists from Molise. Innovative and visionary artists internationally recognized.
Among the small frames of the ‘minimal’ collection of Cesare Zavattini, there are two small paintings by Achille Pace (on the side), one of the greatest living contemporary artists, a native of Termoli.
There is Vincenzo Mascia (Santa Croce di Magliano, 1957), a complex figure of architect, artist and designer; a significant exponent of the International Madi Movement.
There is Gino Marotta (Campobasso, 1935 – Rome, 2012), with one of his most iconic creations, the tree in plastic material, perhaps the most pregnant symbol of his artistic research.
Finally, there is Carmine Cecola (Monteroduni, 1923 – Rome, 2001) (opening photo), a sculptor with a very peculiar, essential language, whose works have something archaic, almost primordial. Some of Cecola’s works are now on display in Venafro until 24 August 2019, for the exhibition ‘Transiti. Borgese-Cecola-Godi. Amici d’arte’.
